This original drypoint print is part of the ongoing series “Polyphony,” a visual translation of traditional Albanian polyphonic songs into symbolic imagery.

Titled “Shepherds Over Generals,” the work draws from a song that tells of shepherds rising to defend their land, overcoming foreign generals and driving invaders away. The composition reflects this narrative through a symbolic confrontation—where ordinary people embody resilience, courage, and collective strength.

The drypoint technique, engraved on copper plate, gives the image a raw and dynamic quality. Fine, incised lines and textured surfaces echo the layered voices of polyphonic singing, creating a visual rhythm that mirrors the oral tradition.
